County Line Marathon begins Sept. 24

Get your running shoes ready, because it’s time for the County Line Marathon!

The County Line Marathon is designed to promote exercise and fun while recognizing students’ dedication, hard work, and physical fitness accomplishments. We’re encouraging all students (kindergarten through 5th grade) to run or walk laps on the County Line field during their lunch recess. Students must complete 39 laps to complete the half marathon or 78 laps to complete the full marathon. Students will have four weeks to complete all of their laps — two weeks in the fall (September 24–28, October 1–5) and two weeks in the spring (dates TBD). Laps are recorded daily by parent volunteers. Parents are also welcome to walk/run with their child/children.

Students should try to walk/run an average of two laps per lunch recess to finish the half marathon, four to complete the full marathon. Students who complete the half marathon, those who complete the full marathon, and the student with the most laps in each classroom will receive a prize (half marathon: K–1=water bottle/2–5=sunglasses; all full marathon: medal & shirt or hat).

Please have your child dress appropriately during the dates of the marathon. We recommend layers for the upper body and sneakers for footwear. Please refrain from sending participating children to school with open-toed shoes during the marathon for safety purposes. In the event of inclement weather, the marathon will be held on the blacktop or indoors.

Remember, the fall portion of the County Line Marathon begins Monday, September 24, and continues through Friday, October 5. Parents, please sign up at http://signup.com/go/tOQJgmQ or contact Christine Prescott at [email protected] to volunteer.

Thank you PTA and Marathon Volunteers!
