Get your running shoes ready, because it’s time for the County Line Marathon!

Sponsored by the County Line PTA, the County Line Marathon is an incentive program that promotes a healthy lifestyle and perseverance in striving toward a long-term goal. We’re encouraging all students (kindergarten through 5 th grade) to run or walk laps on the County Line field during their lunch recess. Students must complete 150 minutes of walking/running to complete the half marathon or 300 minutes to complete the full marathon. Students will have four weeks (20 recesses) to complete all of their laps — two weeks in the fall (September 19 – 30) and two weeks in the spring (dates TBD). Students are incentivized with prizes (TBD) for completing both the half marathon and the full marathon (a medal and another prize TBD)! We will be handing out popsicle stick “counters” at 5-minute intervals, up to a max of 15 minutes per recess. Kids will check in with parent volunteers and have time recorded based on the number of stick markers that they have collected (2 sticks = 5 minutes, 3 sticks = 10 minutes, 4 sticks = 15 minutes). To complete a full marathon, kids will need to run/walk for the full 15 minutes daily during both the fall and spring. As we are stopping the marathon at 15 minutes, this still allows participants a solid chunk of time for playground/ unstructured playtime. Parents, please reinforce with your children that if they intend to participate, the marathon field needs to be their FIRST stop in recess. We will be unable to accommodate kids attempting to start the marathon late into the recess period.

Please have your child dress appropriately during the dates of the marathon. We recommend sneakers and layers.

We also need volunteers!

Spring County Line Marathon

Spring Marathon starts Monday, so make sure you send your kids in their comfy clothes for the next two weeks 😉 AND it’s not too late to signup to volunteer and see them in action on the playground. Sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/n4mj8emy
Sponsored by the County Line PTA, the County Line Marathon is an incentive program that promotes a healthy lifestyle and perseverance in striving toward a long-term goal. We are encouraging all students (kindergarten through 5th grade) to participate!
The spring will be a continuation of the marathon from fall 2021. Even if your child has not yet participated this school year, there’s still time for them to work towards a prize this spring! Students who complete the half marathon (150 minutes) and/or the full marathon (300 minutes) will receive prizes. Students will have time during lunch recess to run or walk laps on the course on the County Line field, with parent volunteers handing out popsicle stick “counters” at 5 minute intervals. Parents, please reinforce with your children that if they intend to participate, the marathon field needs to be their FIRST stop in recess. We are not able to accommodate kids attempting to start the marathon later in the recess period.
Please have your child dress appropriately during the dates of the marathon. We recommend layers for the upper body and sneakers for footwear. Please refrain from sending participating children to school wearing open-toed shoes during the marathon for safety reasons.
